Chat GPT 5: A little less conversation, a little more action.
As I read what industry experts had to say about Chat GPT 5, two cultural lines popped into my head:
1. “I do declare, Frank Kennedy, if you don’t look dashing with that new set of whiskers!” (Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind)
2. “A little less conversation, a little more action” (Elvis Presley, "A Little Less Conversation")

Where did my models go?
The model selection drop-down is gone for most users (Plus/Pro/Team users can still select manually), with GPT 5 now choosing the right approach behind the scenes.
Don’t just talk about it; get it done!
GPT-5 is more task-oriented. Unlike GPT 4, it doesn’t overoffer or triple-check, but if you don’t state your assumptions upfront, it may carry them through to near completion before you notice. (More on that below.)
Prompting in ChatGPT 5
A Prompt Pattern That Caught My Strategic Eye
ChatGPT-5 recently suggested this prompt structure, and while it’s not my usual approach, the assumption-checking piece immediately caught my attention. As someone who’s seen AI interactions go off track because of differing expectations, I love how this pattern diagnoses potential friction points upfront.
Here’s the original, then below is how I adapted it.
Original prompt, generated by ChatGPT 5.
You are my [role].
Task: [what to do].
Audience: [who].
Constraints: [scope/format/length/must‑include/avoid].
Assumptions I’m making: [list].
If assumptions conflict, ask before proceeding.
Then: do the work.
My Adaptation
You are my [role].
Task: [what to do].
Audience: [who].
Context I should know: [relevant background/constraints/goals].
Parameters: [scope/format/length/must-include/avoid].
Assumptions I’m making: [list]. If assumptions conflict or context seems incomplete, ask before proceeding.
Success looks like: [desired outcome/how I’ll measure effectiveness].
Then: proceed with the task.
My tweaks were
Added “Context I should know” for richer background information
Softened “Constraints” to “Parameters” because it feels more collaborative
Changed “do the work” to “proceed with the task” because Nike
Added “Success looks like” for outcome clarity
Expanded the checking mechanism to catch incomplete context
Roadtesting
Here are three use cases for which I've had great results.
To conduct market research for strategic direction setting
To create a marketing campaign plan that I can execute in 1 hour a day for 1 month.
To brainstorm a list of administrative techniques to keep my ideas and projects organized.
If you try the prompt pattern, let me know how it works!
Thanks for reading, and please let me know what you think and what you'd like me to write about.
